This is a public service announcement:
When you take a new job requiring cross-country commutes to the office and cross-office walks to the bathroom, the following may later cause pain and discomfort:
- Drinking liquids only for the caffeine or alcohol content.
- Waiting for just one more meeting to end before going to the bathroom – for five meetings in a row.
- Taking bubble baths to de-stress.
- Did I mention drinking nothing that doesn’t contain caffeine or alcohol? For weeks?
You know what I’m saying here, right? You saw where this was headed?
Consider yourself warned…
… and now would be a good time to get on good terms with the sweet ladies at your husband’s Primary Care Physician’s office (because of course you’d make three phone calls to find him one but never get around to finding your own) who will kindly and cheerfully fit you into the schedule within 30 minutes of your phone call.
I love all these sweet southerners.
(Go drink water. Now. And call a doctor if you don’t have one.)

Speaking of, is anyone else freaked out by Brittany Murphy’s death? Iron deficiency because she’d been on her period and drug interactions caused her to DIE. And if you look at the drugs, they’re not DRUGS but regular OTC drugs likely taken because she’d had the flu. AND SHE DIED.
I don’t know about you, but I’m freaked. When druggies die? Meh. A 32-year old woman who’d been on her period, mixed up cold meds and was a little on the skinny side dies? Two of those three things might actually happen in my life. I’m freaked.
So I’m taking vitamins regularly for the first time ever — gummy kids vitamins, but still, something, right – and drinking V-8. I still don’t drink enough water (yea, read the first section up there), but I’m trying. This reminds me of why I buckle my seatbelt on airplanes now: because I wanted the intro to Lost once and that was enough.

Hey there! I just thought I should let you know, they make adult gummy vitamins too. I take them, and my husband makes fun of me for it, but whatever. I hate taking pills, so it has been the only way I'll take them! Oh yeah, and I take more calcium (the gummies don't have much) in a chewy chocolate form as well. Yeah, I'm like a 5 year old, but at least I'm making it happen!

I take the flinstones classic chewables and they have everything an adult needs. Plus they don't make me yak like all the other vitamins I've tried.

the only issue i have with the gummy vitamins is the total lack of iron. Flintstone's classic chewables are some of the most bio-available vitamins on the market. plus they have iron, which is necessary.vitamin deficiency is a real concern. i was a strict vegetarian for 10 years and i didn't supplement. i thought i was fine, but i wasn't. i was seriously deficient in vitamin b12 and it was causing issue with iron absorption, plus other symptoms like fatigue, mood swings, irritability and other such nasty non-specific things. i seriously thought i was just crazy. weirdly enough, it was a beet bender that lead me to the truth. i ate 3 large beets one night and while i won't give you the details, i can suggest you look up beeturia if you are curious. the results of my beet consumption made me curious and i did some research. so i bought a bottle of sublingual b12 supplements and (not to sound over dramatic) it changed my life. i feel like a completely different person, and all it cost me was $6. now that i'm absorbing the iron in my diet and from my flintstone's complete (available at sam's club for cheap) i don't have the extreme beeturia. how's that for tmi?p.s. drink more water. your kidneys, skin and other such organs will thank you.

I force myself to drink water at work because it's cheaper – they want $1 for a can of soda from the vending machine, and I can fill up my Klean Kanteen for free. Then I set goals for myself (small ones): one Kanteen-full by lunchtime, and another one by the time I go home, whether or not I make tea at some point. Also, I recently started taking chewable Vitamin C in orange flavor at the suggestion of my dentist (he swore it would help my gums stop bleeding and it absolutely did!) and they're so delicious I never forget to take them. Seriously, they're like candy.

Cranberry juice is all I'm gonna say. Seriously. I drink a glass every morning. And I've been there before, more than one. And kudos on taking your vitamins. I take a One-a-Day every morning, swallowed with my cranberry juice.

In order to aid my water drinking, we got a soda water maker. LOVE IT. Add some fresh lemon and lime and it makes me feel so fancy. As for Britney Murphy, I am sorry, but she was more than a bit skinny. I hate to judge, but I really do think her weight (or lack there of) had a lot to do with it. But that's just my opinion.
