We're having a…

… boy!  We had our 20 week anatomy scan today (at 19 weeks) and everything looked really good, including the little dude’s peter, which my husband will kill me for even talking about.  I’m a little disappointed that the DVD turns out not to play anything (oops) but the ultrasound was pretty fun.

It’s a kid in there! We’re having a son! A SON. Whoa.

We’re adults now.

I was surprisingly disappointed to not be having a girl, but I suspect I would have been disappointed (just a bit) no matter what. Either way, 50% of our options were eliminated, right? But I’m very excited, too.

And my husband’s surfing the ‘net for 50cc dirt bikes. Uh, oh.

  1. Congratulations!!! I think it’s so exciting to put a gender on the little one – makes it more real. And little baby boys are so precious! 🙂

  2. Aww, congratulations! I can’t wait to find out what we’re having. We’re doing our ultrasound in four weeks (at the 21 week mark) and I think it will finally feel “real” after that.

  3. Can I just tell you that I loved this post? I am so bad with transitions and I think that I will feel exactly like you do when we get pregnant. You’ll be such a great mom- but pregnancy isn’t really when you have to be a mom, you know? I think ten months has a purpose, of getting ready, of transitioning yourself… I mean, I accepted a new job that I’m excited about but I’m still having a hard time with the change stuff. It’s only normal to still be in the midst of such a huge transition for you, I think.

At any rate- a baby boy! Snakes, snails and puppy dog tails to you!

  4. Congrats! I have one of each, but just recently had the baby boy…and they’re loads of fun! There’s still lots of cute outfits for boys…and you DO get to do the whole truck/motorcycle/bulldozer stage – Love it!

  5. I just came across your blog about a month ago and I have to say, I found it at the perfect time! I am due with our first baby on July 25th – and it’s fun to read about someone going through the exact same things as I am. I can relate to so many (if not all!) of the things you say in this blog. It’s just like reading to the tee what I am feeling. Thank you so much! Congratulations on the baby boy… My husband and I will find out what we are having just an hour from now. 🙂

  6. Early on a nurse guessed we’d have a girl based on the speed of the heartbeat. So I was convinced we’d have a girl. Then found out it was a boy when we got the US. I was a little disappointed at first cause I think I was sort of mourning the loss of this little girl I had built up in my mind. But I got over it after about a day. I went to Babies R Us and browsed all the cute little boy outfits and got totally into it. My boy smiling at me just completely melts my heart.
