That’s my goal for the rest of the year, to do things with renewed vigor. Work has sucked all the hope out of my soul lately and I’ve fallen off so many good-for-me wagons at home: budgeting, saving, speaking Spanish and working on potty learning with Javi….
I prefer goals and hopes to resolutions in the new year, so I’m going to try to get it together this year. Today, in fact.
We met a woman and her four year old daughter at the mall playground this weekend. She was from Miami, a native Spanish speaker, but stopped speaking Spanish with her daughter when they moved to Knoxville a few years ago. “Look,” she said. “She speaks a little bit of Spanish.”
Oh my goodness, the horrid accent this kid had! Until that moment, I’d never considered that Javi might not have a natural accent. So, back to Spanish we go. Now that he connects words with things, I’m comfortable going back to two languages.
We will see how long I stay on that wagon….
